Insightful-net

(source: we heart it)

I'm sure some of you are feeling the same way I am this evening: less than thrilled with the prospect of a new work week. Especially one after a long holiday break. The work will be piled up, the emails will be overflowing, the kids will be hellions (ok that one is pretty me-specific). It can be overwhelming just to think about.

I had a low point while mulling this over... the hoovering gloom of tomorrow persuaded me to type the following into Google: "What should I do with my life?" You know you're in trouble when you're expecting Google to answer this for you, especially when looking for an answer to take hold in time for work tomorrow. I even got cocky with it & pressed "I'm feeling lucky" instead of the normal search button. And to my pleasant surprise, my old buddy didn't let me down.

Somedays I think no one will know me as well as my computer.
(Insert obvious Big Brother-esque reply here. I know.)

The page it brought me to was an article that basically directed the reader back to themselves. Continue in self-discovery & let that guide you to close the gap between who you are & what you do. Good advice, Google, I knew I could count on you!

This is every bit as insightful as that other friend of mine... Netflix. You know how they use your ratings to suggest categories you'll like? They know me better than I know myself. You're right Netflix, I DO like feel-good comedies featuring strong female leads! And critically acclaimed, witty documentaries! You can't get much more specific than that. So thanks my digital companions, without you I'd have to find some other hobby to suck all my time & keep me calm on nights like these.

Now if only I could get FaceBook ads to stop telling me what kind of guys to meet...

  1. You are so funny :) My Facebook page keeps recommending people from high school I never even heard of! I have to say, Amazon.com does a pretty good job of telling me what I want!

I am SO not into being at work today, for the record.

  3. I agree. I think you are actually where you should be. But it's your life, and only you know (and the internet obviously) where you want to be in life. You'll figure it out later.

(I need to listen to my own words sometimes)

  4. I agree, work this week is dragging booty. I did not want to return to work even though I didn't get the coveted week off between Christmas and New Year's like some people I know.

I wish Google would tell me what I should do with my life, I feel like I'm just running in circles and have no path!

Don't get me started on those stupid Facebook ads, I can't stand them.
