Week 3

Teenagers are idiots.

I can say this with confidence because: a) I was one once. b) I work with them everyday.

When I was in high school I didn't know ANYTHING. This is probably fairly common, but sometimes I surprise myself when I look back & have one of those "that was me?" moments. I remember that senior portraits were such a big deal & everyone was getting theirs professionally done even though we were required to get yearbook portraits too. But that didn't matter, clearly if you didn't get portraits with pillars that say 2002 or with a waterfall behind you, they were totally lame.  I thought I was even ahead of the curve because I was a representative (aka salesman) for a photographer & my portraits were extra glamorous so I'd have a fancy portfolio to show all my friends.

The only hitch in my teen-model fantasy was... braces. Ughhhhhhh. What kind of a loser still has braces as a senior?!? I refused to smile in all of my portraits. I did smile for the yearbook photo though, after all I had to face those kids everyday & they'd seen me at prom with braces too so who cared? It barely counts.

Looking back, I love my yearbook portrait so much more.

It's me.

I don't own a boa, I don't lean on pillars, & I'm not a biker. I SMILE. Actually I sometimes smile without realizing it & that makes people suspicious... that's me!

  1. Hehehe. This post made me giggle.

By the way, class of 2002 high five! And then another high five for NOT KNOWING ANYTHING, because I certainly didn't either.

I wish I wouldn't have been going through my rebellious badass wannabe phase senior year, because then I might actually have a nice picture to show. I remember seeing everyone elses senior pictures, and not really feeling jealous, but feeling like I was missing out on something. I had my pictures taken at "the picture place", in the mall. I look like I have a hunchback in them. They're not pretty.

I like your yearbook picture, braces and all, much better than your glamour shots :) The yearbook shot looks so much more natural. Like a girl I'd want to be friends with.

  3. Those are great photos! I had braces until Junior year, so I didn't have to worry about Senior pics.

  4. I remember those days, and glad we don't have to relieve them.

Loven the braces shot, cuz I was right there with ya. Of course there was also a lack of full smiles in my "glamour" shots as well. Being a so called grown up now definately makes you realize how stupid we all were then. I like the real pictures of all of us better!
